This report provides a demographic and socioeconomic profile of Arkansas immigrants and their children, including a description of immigrant workers in the Arkansas economy. It is the first in a three-volume set that look at the demographic and economic aspects of immigration in the state.

A Profile of Immigrants in Arkansas: Changing Workforce and Family Demographics examines the immigrant population's demographic characteristics, trends and comparisons with other states. It also probes the impact of rising the immigrant population on the school system and the job market. Finally, it looks at the skill levels, types of jobs and economic wellbeing of immigrants in Arkansas.

It uses the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) for 2010 as well as data from the Arkansas Department of education and the Arkansas Department of Health to develop its reults.

The report finds that the immigrant population in Arkansas, although small compared to other states, is growing rapidly, particularly the children of immigrants. Immigrants have an outsized share of the workforce with Latino immigrant men having a higher employment rate than any other immigrant or native-born group.
