Greater Boston's Immigrants from Haiti
The Immigrant Learning Center, with our partner the Institute for Immigration Research at George Mason University, has compiled fact sheets to answer the most pressing questions about the top ten immigrant populations in the Greater Boston area. The reports explore the most common occupations, educational backgrounds, median income and more for each immigrant population.
While about five percent of immigrants from Haiti in Greater Boston are Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, more than 56 percent are naturalized citizens. They are the fourth-largest immigrant population ahead of, in order, China, Dominican Republic and India and ahead of Brazil, El Salvador, Vietnam, Canada, Guatemala and Cape Verde. Data from 2017.
